Here we are, our 13th alt. mondays, and you have still kept it locked with us, our gift to you is this carefully curated selection of pan-Atlantic hitmakers and hits. The only caveat is: you can only listen without the hitting the music shuffle button.

For a little descriptive sense of what we mean, this week alt. mondays opens with a double dose of sibling love, starting with Mavin starlets, DNA twins and American pop-phenomena, Chloe and Halle. Mellower textures are maintained through the sounds of South African DJ, Sun-El Musician, the inventiveness of emPAWA boss Mr Eazi, and Puerto Rican-American rising star Ian Dior. The pace picks up from this point, with cuts from Aya Nakamura, Jorja Smith and Straffiti. Watch out for stand-out meditative tracks from Lil Baby, Oomou Sangare, Lil Peep and a few others, that will may put you in feels of somberness.

The news headlines recently reported the death of another black woman, Oluwatoyin Salau, from Tallahasse USA. Based on Oluwatoyin’s last tweets, she may have been murdered by a man she sought refuge from, and once again, we’re left speechless and numb. As we send condolences to her loved ones, from all of us as ARTISH, we have only one mantra as headlines after headlines continue to be increasingly gloomy for black people and women: If you have a voice use it.
