With Nigeria's 60th anniversary barely behind us, reflection has been replaced by a burning desire for action. Anger over the death of Kolade Johnson quickly materialized into peaceful protests across the nation, spearheaded by Nigerian youths (Nigerians under 35 years of age make up over 70% of the country's population).

In the midst of great change, the theme for alt. mondays 028 is simply 'Fuck The Police'. As Africans are once again rallying for good governance and greater accountability from leadership and the police, we stand in solidarity with Femicide protests in Namibia, the on going anti-police brutality protests across Nigeria, and with all the youth harnessing their voices for change, and demanding we feel safe in our home land.

As we head to the protest grounds once again in the coming days, we have assembled the most poignant, rhythmic and honest examinations of Nigeria, and the African reality, featuring music from Kendrick Lamar, SuperWozzy, PayBac, ShowDemCamp, Fela and more. These emotionally-charged revolution numbers are reminders of the reason behind our defiance and the prospect of a better tomorrow.
