alt. mondays 039
This week, alt. mondays 039 is themed #accesscontrol for two reasons. First, as a sequel to last week's #vibecheck, because not everyone should have access to your energy. Secondly, because last week Nigeria's central bank issued an official ban on cryptocurrencies, signalling another concerted effort by the apex bank to limit the use of necessary innovation for no clear reason. #accesscontrol is not packed with protests anthems, even though it should, but the real message for young changemakers here is vigilance. After the events of 2020's #EndSARS movement, there's no doubt the same restrictive forces that charged young Nigerians to take to the streets are still languidly trying to hold on to power. Now changemakers have to stick together more than ever, to rally against despotism. Stream cuts like KAYTRANDA's "Dysfunctional", Made Kuti's "Your Enemy", DAP The Contract's "Why Would I Lie", as well as new music from Terri, Carla Prata, Ajebo Hustlers and more.
