The tumultuous events of the last 11 months have permanently inundated many aspects of everyday life. It started with a deadly pandemic ripping through the world and disrupting many 2020 plans and projections. Then, economic and institutional collapse in many sectors of the global economy followed. In recent weeks, an African spring spurred by civil rights protests in Nigeria and Uganda has been underway by citizens demanding better from their national public administrators.

As we creep into the holiday weeks ahead, an atmosphere of angst an uncertainty still hangs in the air. 2020 has brought a plot-twist with every single passing month, and while it's not hard to imagine December could be an epic grand finale for all the wrong reasons, there's also room for a grateful spirit. After such a transformative year, we can look forward to 2021 with some hope. COVID-19 vaccines are finally being rolled out, Donald Trump is out of office and black people all over the world will look back at 2020 as the year of unfiltered authentic black expression in mainstream media.
