While dealing with all the unexpected chaos of 2020, we’ve learnt how to have a good time while coping with conditions that are less than ideal. Music has played a huge role in helping us remain positive and optimistic about the future as artists narrate their relatable experiences to make the soundtrack of the times or offer hope in their resolve to keep the party going. As we adjust to the new normal, the theme for this week’s Alt Mondays playlist is “Breeze in, Breeze out” and it features all the latest releases that bridge the gap between our introvert and extrovert perceptions.
The slow build of the 22-song playlist will be cliche if it didn’t work so perfectly. Things start quietly with Lex Amor, Hibotep and Faizal Mostrixx’s “Ancestry”, build a bit with party jams like “TWIST & TURN” by Popcaan, Drake and PND and fall back again with the new single from Ilaye, “Fix.” Things get a bit louder deeper into the set list as Tiwa Savage fulfils our dance floor needs on “Koroba” and Nasty C shows off his cocky bars on “Palm Trees”. All together, Episode 21 of Alt Mondays is both joyous and somber, a tidy summation of our wistful mood as we go into the new week.
